Last week, I was trying to get a picture of a blue jay when, all of a sudden, it swooped to the ground and did a spread-eagle/spread-blue jay (see first photo below). Then it crooked its head and bent one wing, and remained in that position for some 30 seconds. If I hadn’t seen it fly to the ground, I would have thought it was wounded. Whatever it was, it was interesting to watch.
