Old Habits Die Hard

Last week, a friend asked a question that led to this post. Thank you to the people who were able to give the answer*.

For many years, the Lake & Wildlife Committee encouraged Bent Tree residents to leave their Christmas trees at the delinquent boat storage area so the trees could be set in Lake Tamarack as fish attractors.  *The committee is not planning to put any trees in the lake this year, but the picture below shows that many people are still in the habit of leaving their trees at the boat storage area.

Keep Pickens Beautiful holds a “Bring One For the Chipper” event each year.  This year’s event was scheduled for last Saturday, January 7.  One option for Bent Tree residents is to take the trees to the quarry debris burn site on a day when the quarry is open for dumping yard debris. The quarry is usually open for this on the last Wednesday of each month (from 8:00 a.m to noon). The BTCI website calendar does not show the quarry information for this month, so you may want to double check with Admin before counting on it being open on the 25th.
