The Bent Tree Board of Directors will vote on the 2018 Budget and Fee Schedule at tomorrow’s meeting (9:00 a.m. at Club Tamarack, BTCI members may attend). The proposed operating budget is $4,997,950…just $2,050 shy of five million dollars. That covers the day-to-day operating expenses…the capital budget is separate.
If you are a Bent Tree property owner, you can review the proposed budget and fee schedule on the official Bent Tree website (login required). One thing that has been discussed and straw polled by the Board, but is not on the proposed fee schedule, is a one-time fee to combine lots. At the November 7 budget session, a board member said that he thought there should be a $1,500 lot combination fee starting next year (a one-time fee that would apply only to future lot combinations). He also said that he already took advantage of the 2015 CC&R amendment that allows lot combinations with no additional assessment (and without a fee). After some discussion, the board president called for a straw vote on whether or not board members would support a $1000 (not $1500) lot combination fee. Six members raised their hands (one of the six said she was a half vote). The board did not add the fee to the proposed fee schedule at that point, but the fee has continued to be discussed as a possibility. The Board has the option to amend the fee schedule and/or the budget at tomorrow’s meeting.
Property owners may not participate in the discussions at tomorrow’s meeting, but they can sign up to speak at Open Forum, if they wish. Click here for more information on Opens Forums.
